  Successful Applicants & Swearing-In

The most recent Montana Bar exam took place on February 25th and 26th in Helena.  Results were mailed on April 7, 2014 to the address of record.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS: To qualify for admission to the State Bar of Montana, you must have met all eligibility requirements, including payment of dues and fees to the State Bar of Montana. Send the Member Registration Form with payment to the State Bar, either by faxing the New Member Registration Form and the Admissions Credit Card Payment Form to (406) 442-7763 or you may e-mail the form and call the State Bar at (406) 442-7660 with payment information.   You may not be sworn into the State Bar until you have submitted the registration form and dues have been paid.

SWEARING-IN:   The Montana Supreme Court and the US District Court for Montana control the swearing-in of applicants to the Courts of Montana. All questions regarding swearing-in should be directed to the Court Clerks' offices.  Both the Montana Supreme Court and the Montana Federal Court require either contact and/or filing of certain documents in advance of the ceremony.  Additional information will be mailed from the Courts below.

SUPREME COURT CEREMONY:  The Montana Supreme Court has set the date for the swearing-in ceremony for successful February examinees for April 22nd at 10:00 a.m. in the courtroom of the Montana Supreme Court in Helena.  Additional information has been provided to successful examinees.  Family and friends are welcome to attend the event and there will be a short reception afterwards.

FEDERAL COURT:  Should you also wish to be admitted to practice before the United States District Court of the District of Montana, an admission ceremony is scheduled for April 22nd at 1:30 at the Paul G. Hatfield Courthouse in Helena.

OFF-SITE:  If you are unable to be sworn-in during the ceremony or would prefer to be sworn-in at another location or time, you must petition the Court for off-site swearing-in.   A sample petition is posted on the Court's website and questions should be directed to the Office of the Clerk of the Supreme Court at 406-444-3858.

The Board of Bar Examiners examined the following applicants and have determined their scores are sufficient to pass the February 2014 Montana Bar Examination, and have met all requirements for admission and recommends they be admitted to practice law in the State of Montana:
